| First Three-Page Paper Assignment Due February 13, 2003 While answering consider Orwell’s essay on “Politics and the English Language.” In what manner and to what extent do Patterson and Graber agree on the relationship between mass media and Politics? Are their disagreements substantive or superficial? Considering my rendition of Habermas’ Life World model what are the implications of this relationship between mass media and Politics on politics? Remember that although you are limited to three double spaced pages (font size should be around 11 Times New Roman (feel free to use other fonts and sizes, but make sure that they are around 11 Times New Roman)) you are still required to produce a professional grade academic paper. This paper should include few to no quotes (because its limited size), but must still include proper citations for both verbatim quotes and the ideas of others. You may wish to do outside research, but be certain to quote everything carefully. Include a bibliography even if you only reference Graber and Patterson. Your paper should be carefully edited before turning it in. This is not a summarization or regurgitation paper. You are expected to link everything together in as new and insightful a manner as is possible. Even though not all of you are political scientists pretend that you are. Use this paper as a place to bring in your own conjecture; however, even conjecture must be supported by evidence. A satisfactory summarization is probably worth a D grade. If your ambition is greater than a D then you must transcend the obvious and produce something of value. Above all take risks! Whatever you do don’t bore me! Being the Viking that I am (I am a quarter Swedish) I thought that I would share this with you. http://www.rathergood.com/vikings/ Second three page paper |
